India began developing hypersonic weapons

INDIA (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has launched a new generation of hypersonic weapons, local media reported.

According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, citing government sources, DRDO set about creating rockets at a speed five times the speed of sound. In the near future, a wind tunnel will be launched for testing and improving technologies.

“The hypersonic weapon system is one of the areas of modern technology that we are seriously studying,” reports Observatory words source publication.

Recall that earlier, CNBC reported that despite the statements by American officials that the US was losing the hypersonic arms race to Russia and China, this is not entirely true – Washington is simply following a different , more complicated path.
