India officially announces outbreak of coronavirus disaster

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — The Government of India has announced an outbreak of disease caused by the new coronavirus, a national disaster. This was reported on Saturday on Twitter by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.

“The government of India has decided to consider the outbreak of COVID-19 as an officially declared disaster in order to provide assistance within the framework of the state fund for responding to natural disasters,” the report said.

This decision allows the state to use funds from special funds designed to deal with the consequences of natural disasters. The money will go, including helping the infected and the families of those who died from the virus.

A total of 84 cases were noted in India (85 were previously reported, but one case has not yet been confirmed), 10 of which have already recovered, two have died.
