Iran calls Hezbollah attack on IDF retaliation

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The policies of the Iranian-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah are aimed at protecting Lebanon’s interests, the official IRNA news agency quoted a senior Iranian security official as saying in response to the group’s attack on the Israeli army on Sunday.

Ali Shamkhani said: “Hezbollah enjoys great popular support in Lebanon … Hezbollah’s punishment of the Zionist regime is a reciprocal response that shows the determination of the resistance front to face threats.”
