Iran reports 113 new coronavirus deaths, raising total to 724

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — The number of cases of coronavirus infection in Iran per day increased by 1209, fatalities – by 113. These data were cited on Sunday by the head of the department of public relations of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of the Republic Kiyanoush Jahanpur.

“In a day, 1209 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the country. The total number is 13,938,” the Young Journalists Club quoted him as saying. The representative of the Ministry of Health added that 724 people died. Previously reported 12 729 cases and 611 deaths.

The Iranian Ministry of Health reported the first cases of coronavirus infection in the country on February 19. Infected were detected in Qom province. Due to the spread of the virus, all Iranian schools are closed until the end of March, many countries have limited communication with the Islamic Republic.

The disease was discovered by a number of Iranian senior officials, including Iran’s First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, Minister of Tourism, Cultural Heritage and Crafts Ali Asgar Munesan, and Rezu Rahmani, Minister of Trade, Industry and Mines.

In addition, the results of analyzes of 23 deputies of the Mejlis (parliament) of the country turned out to be positive. At the same time, two of them – the elected deputy Fatema Rahbar and the current member of the Mejlis Mohammad Ali Ramazani – died of the disease.
