Iran responds to Trump’s threats

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The leader and spiritual leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, condemned the US attacks in Iraq and Syria on Hezbollah camps, subordinate to the Shiite command of Iraq Al-Hashd al-Shaabi. This was reported on January 1 by official website of the Iranian leader.

Washington, according to Khamenei, is taking revenge on Al-Hashd al-Shaabi for their fight against the Islamic State terrorist group (IG, banned in Russia).

“The Iranian government, people and I strongly condemn this malicious act of the United States,” Khamenei said. Iran, he said, does not seek war, but will protect its interests and will oppose those who threaten the republic.

According to the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Abbas Mousavi, in Iraq they faced insults to the Iraqi people and intimidation from the United States. According to the diplomat, surprise is the position of the White House, which called Iran involved in the reaction of Iraqis to the death of their compatriots during the attacks of the US Air Force.

“How and on what basis do you expect the Iraqi people to be silent against all these crimes?” IRNA quotes a diplomat on January 1 . As Mousavi added, the United States ignored the desires of the independent Iraqi people and forgot its role in supporting IS and overthrowing the regime of Saddam Hussein.

The day before, US President Donald Trump said he did not want a war with Iran. Earlier, the White House accused Tehran of organizing an attack on the US embassy in Iraqi Baghdad.

The rally was held in protest against the attack of the US Air Force on the objects of the Hezbollah movement in the city of Al-Qaim on December 29. On the day of the raid , at least 15 militias were reported killed.
