US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — Iran has tripled its reserves of enriched uranium since November 2019 in violation of its 2015 deal with major powers and is denying access to nuclear inspectors to two suspected countries.
The International Atomic Energy Agency made the statement in a confidential report distributed to member states, writes The Guardian.
The agency said that as of February 19, Iran’s total amount of uranium amounted to 1,021kg, compared with 372kg recorded in its latest report on November 3, 2019.
That amount may be plentiful for the production of a nuclear weapon, though Iran insists it will not.
