Iraqi Interior Ministry: 104 people killed, more than 6000 injured in protests

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior and Baghdad Operations, Saad Maan al-Moussawi, said 104 people were killed and more than 6,000 others injured during the protests in the country.

Saad Maan al-Moussawi made the remarks at a news conference for the spokespersons of the ministries of defense, interior, health and joint operations in Iraq.

The spokesman of the Iraqi Interior that there are malicious hands behind the targeting of protesters, pointing out that an investigation has been opened in the body behind the targeting of demonstrators.

Saad Maan al-Moussawi said there was no clash between protesters and security forces.

The spokesman said that the Interior Ministry has opened an investigation into the attacks on the media.

For its part, the Joint Operations Command confirmed that the security forces protect diplomatic missions and state institutions.
