UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — On Sunday, the Ministry of Agriculture in the Gaza Strip said that Israel opened channels and water dams towards Palestinian lands and farms adjacent to the eastern borders of the Strip.
Adham Al-Basyouni, the ministry’s spokesman in the sector, added, in a statement to Anatolia: “Israel flooded agricultural lands, cow farms, and bee farms east of the Shejaiya neighborhood after opening channels and water dams.”
He added: “The opening of dams and canals led to the erosion of the soil, the dumping of agricultural crops and the death of cows, sheep, and bee farms, which resulted in huge losses for farmers (he did not specify).”
Al-Bassiouni pointed out that Israel “intentionally opens channels and water dams every year to flood agricultural lands without any reason and without warning, and this costs huge losses to farmers.”
Open water did not cause any human casualties, according to the source.
Israel builds several dams to collect and benefit from rain water, but it does open the dams when large quantities of water are accumulated.
