Israel warns of the arrival of Hamas to rule the West Bank if elections are held

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS)

Israeli military intelligence (Aman) warned, on Tuesday, of the arrival of the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” to rule in the West Bank, if elections were held, indicating that the movement will continue to build its military strength in Gaza.

This came according to the annual intelligence estimates of “Aman” for the current year 2020, which was delayed for a whole week to study the consequences of the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, according to the newspaper “Yediot Aharonot.”

“Aman” said that the Palestinian Authority will continue this year the political battle against Israel in international forums “without breaking the rules.”

And if the Palestinian elections were held, their results might constitute a surprise to the authorities in the West Bank, and would benefit Hamas, according to the same source.

The Israeli apparatus expressed its concern over the departure of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), who does not believe in violent resistance.

He added that Hamas is interested in a long-term armistice with Israel in Gaza, but it will continue to build its military capabilities, including possession of more accurate missiles, in preparation for a possible war.

The “Aman” agency said that the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani with an American raid in Baghdad on the third of this month constituted an opportunity to intensify Israeli strikes on Iranian targets in Syria.

He expected Iran to continue to progress at a slow pace in its nuclear program and could reach within a year enough materials to produce one nuclear bomb, and two years to produce the missile intended to carry it.
