PALESTINE (OBSERVATORY) – The port of the Gaza Strip was the target of gunfire on Friday, as initially reported by the media, while the Israeli army then announced that it had hit several naval targets near the port.
The Gaza Strip’s seaport has been fired on by Israeli artillery, BBC-Arabic Channel said on Friday, referring to its own sources. According to the channel, shooting at port buildings caused injuries.
Subsequently, the Israeli air force claimed to have attacked six naval targets in the Gaza Strip following a new wave of unrest:
“Israeli air force planes hit six naval targets”, Hamas-owned, the army press service said in a statement. “The strikes were carried out in response to a breakthrough attempt on Israeli territory undertaken on Friday,” it added.
No information is currently available on any damage or casualties. The administration of the Gaza Strip did not comment on the incident.
