UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — A Palestinian was killed Sunday by Israeli bullets after he tried to plant an explosive near the fence separating the Gaza Strip and Israel, according to the Israeli army.
“After the successful response to an attack near the Gaza Strip fence this morning, an army bulldozer took the body of one of the attackers,” an army spokesman told AFP, confirming the presence of two attackers.
The Israeli army announced earlier Sunday, “that two terrorists were approaching the fence in the southern Gaza Strip and were planting a device near it.” A military statement said, “The forces opened fire at them. A casualty was recorded.”
After the incident, a video spread from Gaza showing a bulldozer approaching the body of the young man, while unarmed men were trying to retrieve it.
A sound of gunfire was heard, causing others to move away, allowing the bulldozer to recover the body. A tank was seen next to this bulldozer.
For its part, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that two civilians were wounded by Israeli fire.
Israel has a policy of holding the bodies of militants from Gaza for use in exchanges with Hamas, which has been holding two Israeli soldiers since 2014.
