UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Israeli military helicopters attacked the positions of the Syrian army in the border province of Quneitra, injured three Syrian soldiers, the state television channel of Syria Ikhbariya reports.
“Helicopters from the Israeli occupants launched rocket attacks from the occupied Golan Heights against army positions in the villages of Kahtaniya and al-Khoori and the liberated city of Quneitra, resulting in three soldiers being slightly injured,” the channel reported.
Israel comparatively rarely attacks the positions of the Syrians in the occupied Golan; air strikes have recently been launched from aircraft around Damascus and its environs.
During the Six Day War of 1967, Israel recaptured Syria and occupied the Golan Heights, and in 1981 annexed them unilaterally. Belonging to the mountain plateau is considered the main subject of the Israeli-Syrian conflict, attempts to resolve which were undertaken before the civil war in Syria.
