Khalifa Haftar will attend the Berlin Conference

The leader of the illegitimate armed forces in eastern Libya, Khalifa Haftar, will attend the Berlin Conference to find a solution to the Libyan crisis, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).

According to information received from sources close to Haftar, it is learned that after the official invitation to attend the Conference on Libya on January 19 in the German capital Berlin, Haftar decided to attend the international conference.

Among other things, it is announced that Haftar will go to Berlin with the Speaker of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has made invitations to heads of state and government over the Libyan Conference to be held on Sunday, January 19th.

The conference will be attended by representatives from Turkey, the US, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, China, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Congo, Italy, Egypt, Algeria, as well as the United Nations and the European Union.

It was announced that the conference also invited Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the United Nations (UN) recognized National Reconciliation Government (GNA) of Libya and the leader of the illegitimate armed forces in eastern Libya, Khalifa Haftar.

Previously, 5 working meetings were held in the framework of the Berlin Process on the Libyan issue.
