Kirk Douglas bequeathed all his millions to charity

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The legend of the Golden Age of Hollywood, Kirk Douglas, who died in early February at the age of 103, did not leave a penny to his son, the famous actor Michael Douglas.

Kirk Douglas has always been famous for generous donations, and he did not change this tradition even after death. All his fortune – 61 million pounds, he bequeathed to charity, writes the British publication The Mirror.

The help, in particular, will be received by the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, St. Lawrence University, the Sinai Temple of Westwood, the Kirk Douglas Theater in Culver City.

The list of beneficiaries did not include Michael’s beloved son, however, as many publications note, the latter does not particularly need money, since his net worth is estimated at $ 300 million.

Kirk Douglas was born on December 9, 1916 in American Amsterdam into a family of immigrants from Russia. At birth, received the name Iser Danilovich. His parents moved to America from the Mogilev region (now – the territory of Belarus). From childhood, showed interest in theatrical art.

Ranks 17th on the list of the American Film Institute among the greatest male legends of the classic Hollywood movie screen. He starred in such films as “Champion”, “Glass Menagerie”, “Thirst for Life”, “Paths of Glory”, “Spartak” and many others.

In 1996, Kirk Douglas suffered a stroke, after which his speech was difficult. Since that time, he could no longer act in film and worked mainly on books. In 2011, 94-year-old Douglas took part in the Oscars.

February 5, 2020, the actor died at his home in Beverly Hills (California). The sad news was announced the next day by his son, Michael. He posted a post on his Instagram profile, where he called his father a cinema legend. Very touching with her father-in-law said goodbye to the wife of Michael Douglas – Catherine Zeta-Jones. She posted on her Instagram page a photograph taken on the 99th anniversary of Douglas. “To my dear Kirk. I will love you until the end of my days. I already miss you. Sleep well,” the actress signed this photo.
