UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The Lebanese army opened fire on Israeli drones in the southern part of the country, Al-Mayadin reported.
It is noted that two small drones were located above a military base in the border village of Assisi.
Lebanese army command said the military opened fire after they invaded airspace in the south of the country.
“The reconnaissance drone of a hostile Israel, which arrived from the occupied territories of Palestine, invaded airspace at around 19.45 and was located above one of the army bases in the Adeisi region, the army opened fire in its direction, forcing it to return,” the report says.
The second UAV, according to the communique, was in the air above the Kafr Kila settlement, later it returned to the border.
“The third drone flew up to the same base in Adejs, where fire was fired at it,” the Lebanese military said.
According to local media, the army command issued an order to immediately open fire on all flying vehicles in the airspace of the country after two recent attacks.
Lebanese authorities said earlier that Israeli drones attacked the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday night. One drone crashed and fell into the hands of Hezbollah fighters, the second exploded and damaged the building of the press service of the movement.
Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah promised to adequately respond to Israeli actions. Prime Minister Hariri called the incident an aggression against the sovereignty of the country.
On Monday night, Lebanese media reported that Israeli drones attacked the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Lebanon, near the border with Syria.
