Man tried to blow up a car near Pentagon

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — A man from Arkansas tried to blow up a car near the Pentagon, he was arrested, the US Department of Justice said.

It is noted that the suspect’s name is Matthew Richardson, he is 19 years old. He was detained on Monday at the Pentagon parking lot.

A law enforcement official “allegedly saw Richardson standing next to a car trying to set fire to a piece of cloth inserted into a gas tank with a lighter,” the ministry said.

“After the officer approached Richardson, the accused allegedly told him that he was going to“ blow up this car,” the statement follows.

After that, the suspect tried to escape, but was detained.

“According to court documents, the car owner is a soldier and is not familiar with Richardson,” the department said.
