Mastercard lowered its forecast for revenue due to coronavirus

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The virus does not spare anyone. Mastercard Corporation said that due to the epidemic, it may not reach the planned revenue figures this year.

The company noted that the rapidly spreading disease negatively affects foreign travel, as well as the growth of cross-border electronic commerce. So last year’s revenue forecasts had to be reviewed.

According to the results of the first quarter, revenue growth is expected to be 9-10%. In January, the bar was 2-3% higher.

Longer-term forecasts, evaluating how the spread of the virus will affect the results of the next quarters, are not yet taken in Mastercard.

Also, the company has not yet undertaken to assess the possible impact of the epidemic on the results of the entire current year.
