UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — McDonald’s fast food chain has opened in Russia the first point for cooking food only for delivery.
McDonald’s first food delivery point, Dark Kitchen, the so-called “dark kitchen,” operates near the Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station in test mode, Vedomosti reported.
Food delivery services – Delivery Club and Yandex.Food – are already working with McDonald’s “dark cuisine.”
This point will be one of the first for McDonald’s in the world, said McDonald’s spokesman. Another was opened last year in the UK. The development of such networks depends on sales results.
The Burger King network is McDonald’s main competitor in Russia. But the Burger King Russia division does not have a dark kitchen for orders with delivery.
“Even though the delivery segment is showing strong growth with us, we strive to make our kitchens visible to guests, because we know that it is important for guests to see how food is prepared for them,” said Ivan Shestov, communications director Burger King Russia. ”
But if the kitchen network works on delivery, then this can slow down customer service. Therefore, McDonald’s opened a point focused only on preparing food for delivery.
