UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The Mi-8 helicopter of Skol Airlines made a hard landing in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. On board the rotorcraft were 10 people, it is known that two of them were trapped in the cabin, reports RIA with reference to emergency services.
The incident occurred in the Yamal region of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, near the village of Sabetta. According to preliminary data, a snowstorm became the cause of the crash.
“At 400-500 meters from Sabetta airport, he fell into a blizzard and made a hard landing, breaking off the blades and turning over onto the roof,” the source said.
There are 22 Mi-8 helicopters of various modifications in the park of the Skol airline based in Surgut. One of the carrier’s rotorcraft crashed in October 2016 near the village of Staryi Urengoy.
Then 19 people died, three were injured.
