Militants in the Idlib de-escalation zone do not want peace

SYRIA (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Illegal armed groups in the Idlib de-escalation zone are aimed at unleashing active hostilities, Major General Alexei Bakin, head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties, said at a briefing.

“A comparative analysis of the number of shelling of Syrian settlements from the territory of the Idlib de-escalation zone shows the lack of a tendency to reduce cases of violation of the cessation of hostilities and is a sign of the focus of illegal armed groups on the outbreak of active hostilities,” said Bakin.

He added that the Russian center for reconciliation calls on the commanders of illegal armed groups to abandon armed provocations and embark on a peaceful settlement of the situation in areas under their control.
