Military source denies the departure of Russian ships to the Syrian port of Tartous

RUSSIA (OBSERVATORY) – A Russian military source denied the departure of ships and Russian submarines to the Syrian port of Tartus against the backdrop of possible US strikes, RT reports.

The Interfax news agency quoted the source as saying on Friday that reports that Russia had withdrawn all its warships from the port of Tartus for fear of American strikes were incorrect.

The source said that the Russian naval forces in the Mediterranean use the Russian supply and maintenance center in the port of Tartus to replenish the reserves and carry out small maintenance work only.

Russian warships regularly enter the port of Tartus, but then return to their land areas to carry out their missions.
