UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – The United States and its allies have launched more than 100 missiles in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“Over 100 cruise missiles and air-to-surface missiles were fired by air and sea carriers of the USA, Great Britain, France by military and civilian objects of the Syrian Arab Republic,” the military department said.
“The blows were applied from two ships of the US Navy from the Red Sea, tactical aircraft over the Mediterranean, as well as American strategic bombers B-1B from the area of Tanf,” the ministry said.
“The Syrian air defense system conducted an anti-aircraft battle, a significant part of cruise missiles and air-to-surface air missiles were shot down on approach to the targets,” the Ministry of Defense reported.
“Russian air defense units in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic were not used to repel missile attacks,” the military department said.
Officially, it was reported that two divisions of the S-400 Triumph long-range air defense system cover Russian bases in Khmeimim and Tartus in Syria.
It was also reported that Russian facilities in Syria are covered by anti-aircraft missile and gun complexes “Pantsir-S1”.
