Mnuchin: Washington continues to campaign “maximum pressure” on Iran

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The United States is continuing its “extreme pressure” campaign against Iran, Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said on Thursday, days after John Bolton, national security adviser to President Donald Trump, left the White House.

Mnuchin said in an interview with CNBC that there were no plans so far to hold a meeting between Trump and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York this month, but reiterated that Trump is open to Rouhani’s meeting Without preconditions.
