Moscow: All US missile fired on Syria will be shot down

RUSSIA (OBSERVATORY) –┬áRussia’s ambassador to Lebanon said on Tuesday (April 10th) that Russia will shoot down all US missiles fired at targets in Syria.

In an interview with the Lebanese channel Al-Manar, Zasypkin added that bases or ships from which these missiles are fired could also be targeted by Russian forces.

“Russian military forces will execute President Putin’s orders regarding any US military intervention in Syria, targeting US missiles and their launch sites,” he said in the interview.

Tuesday, the chairman of the defense committee of the Duma (lower house of the Russian parliament), retired General Vladimir Shamanov, former commander of air forces of the Russian Air Force, said Tuesday that Russia would use all means, including military means, to respond to a possible US aggression against the Syrian armed forces.

“We can respond quickly and effectively to any American military strike in Syria, and I hope the Americans do not create a situation that would lead us to use our means to respond,” he added.

Meanwhile, the vice-chairman of the Defense Committee of the Council of the Russian Federation (upper house of the Russian Parliament), Yevgeny Serebrennikov, said on Wednesday, April 11, that the Russian military bases of Hmeimim and Tartous, as well as the Russian military deployed in Syrian territory, will be protected against the possible strikes of the United States.

“We believe that if the United States strikes, the lives of our military will not be threatened. I hope that the Americans will understand it and will not make such a mistake, otherwise the Russian response will be immediate,” said Serebrennikov.
