RUSSIA (OBSERVATORY) – The Russian Foreign Ministry links the Israeli attack against Syrian base T4 with the resurgence of Daesh activities in the region.
The attack by Israeli F-15 fighters on the T4 Syrian air base coincided with the intensification of the activities of Daesh terrorists in the region, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday.
“The strike by the Israeli air force on the night of 8 to 9 April against a Syrian base 70 km west of Palmyra has been far from stabilizing the situation in Syria. It should be noted that the attack on the T4 base, which hosts the aviation engaged in the anti-Daesh operation in eastern Syria, coincided with the intensification of terrorist activity in this region,” said the spokesperson.
According to Zakharova, extremists are desperate to undermine the peace dialogue in Syria, which has “saved the lives of thousands of Syrians”.
“The extremists have redoubled their efforts after the success of the negotiations to settle the situation in Eastern Ghouta […]. They are apparently not interested in this issue. Their sponsors, who have also intensified their activities, would be ready for radical measures in the name of their interests in Syria. These interests have nothing to do with the true interests of the Syrian people, “noted M me Zakharova.
Syria’s T4 airbase, located in eastern Homs province, was attacked on 9 April. The Syrian army opened fire to intercept missiles fired at the base. According to Syrian media reports, the attack left several dead and wounded. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the strike was carried out by two Israeli fighters F-15: three missiles hit their target and five others were shot. Israel refused to comment on the situation.
