US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — Nearly 51,000 people infected with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) worldwide have recovered.
According to information on the Worldometer site compiling up-to-date data on new Covid-19 cases in countries, 3,203 people have died due to the new coronavirus.
While work is underway to develop a vaccine against the disease, treatment in more than half of the cases ended successfully. So far 50,984 people infected with Covid-19 have been released from hospitals.
So far, only 3.4 percent have lost their lives and 54.7 percent have recovered.
The epidemic has remained far behind other coronaviruses of the last 20 years in terms of the number of infected, deaths and outbreaks, and is still at a low rate.
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), which spread between 2002-2003 in China, had infected 8,096 people and killed 774 people.
The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) had infected 2,506 people and killed 862 people.
The death rate in SARS was 9.6 percent, and 34 percent in MERS.
