UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The name Muhammad has taken the top spot as the most used name for male infants in the Norwegian capital, Oslo.
According to a report released by the Norwegian Statistics Office, the name Mohammed is listed as the most used in male babies born in 2019 in Oslo, just like it has been for 11 years.
In Norway, though, the most common name was “Jacob”, followed by “Lucas” and “Philip”.
Over 20 percent of male infant names are taken from the saints mentioned in the Bible.
The name Mohammed was also popular in the Swedish city of Malmo in 2017, when the same name entered the top ten in Britain and Wales.
