Nasdaq allies 1% supported by business results and bond yields decline

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) –¬†US stocks opened higher on Thursday as US bond yields fell from 3 percent, and Facebook jumped 9 percent after strong business results helped the Nasdaq rise more than 1 percent.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 44.89 points, or 0.19 percent, at 24,128.72.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index gained 12.25 points, or 0.46 percent, to 2,651.65.

The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 76.75 points, or 1.10 percent, at 7,080.49.
