UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – Experts from the US Military Academy found a “weak link” in the possible transportation of NATO troops through the Baltic states.
As informs RT, the railroad with the gauge of the Russian standards will become an obstacle for the rapid movement of troops and equipment.
Experts believe that to correct the situation it is necessary to modernize the road traffic in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
“This incompatibility means that trains carrying military equipment and supplies from large NATO bases in Germany or Poland will have to move their cargo to trains adapted to the Russian track, or deliver it to the destination by truck,” according to report.
Experts emphasize the fact that transportation will have to involve trained personnel, as well as “significant military resources”.
