UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel supports the United States of America in the wake of the escalating crisis in US-Iran relations.
“Iran wants to destroy Israel. Everyone who takes the courage to attempt to attack Israel will suffer severe blow,” Netanyahu said at a conference in the Western Quds.
The dramatic escalation of the crisis in US-Iran relations came on Friday after an air strike in Baghdad in which US forces killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds unit, known as the elite unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
In the early hours of this morning, Iranian forces launched ballistic missile strikes on two US military bases in Iraq, at the Ayn Al-Assad air base in Anbar and at the base in Erbil.
Yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that Israel did not participate in last week’s attack on Baghdad and that it should not be involved in the crisis.
He said today from Quds that Israel is fully on the US side and that it supports Washington’s official decisions.
