Netanyahu says he has “unequivocal evidence” of an Iranian “secret” program to acquire a nuclear weapon

ISRAEL (OBSERVATORY) –┬áIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that his country had “unequivocal evidence” that Iran was developing a “secret” program to acquire a nuclear weapon.

Netanyahu, who completely rejects the nuclear deal, told the press in Tel Aviv during a live broadcast on Israeli television channels of what he called “exact copies” of the tens of thousands of original Iranian documents obtained “a few weeks ago in an amazingly successful intelligence operation.”

The documents, whether paper or CD-ROM, are “new evidence of a nuclear weapons program that Iran has been hiding for years in the eyes of the international community in its secret nuclear archives,” he said.

The documents show that despite assurances from Iranian leaders that they never sought nuclear weapons, “Iran has lied,” Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu’s announcement comes as US President Donald Trump approaches a 12-day deadline to announce his position on the agreement reached in 2015.
