New 5G iPhone models may be released before the end of 2020

Last month, reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple will release four iPhone with 5G support in the second half of 2020. At the same time, models will go on sale immediately with support for both the sub-6 GHz range and the mm Wave range. True, not in all countries.

Today, the analyst confirmed his forecast.

Apple expects to release all 5G models of iPhone smartphones by the end of 2020. Deliveries of devices with support for the range below 6 GHz (Sub-6 GHz) and the millimeter range (mmWave) should begin at the end of III or the beginning of IV quarters.

According to analyst Min-Chi Kuo, the development of 5G iPhone models is going according to plan. New items should be presented at the traditional September presentation of Apple.

Earlier, Kuo said that at first, iPhone models with mmWave support will be available in five countries – the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the UK. The analyst also noted that Apple may disable 5G in countries that do not yet have the appropriate services or have a small 5G coverage.

Another well-known Apple product analyst, Guo Minghao, confirmed that Apple will release 5 new iPhones this year. These devices will have integrated 5G NR RF modules in the millimeter range and less than 6 GHz. The forecast for differences between smartphones has not changed from the last time: it is a 4.7-inch LCD model, a 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch (rear dual camera), 6.1-inch (rear triple camera) and 6,7 inch version.

Millimeter waves will provide high data transfer rates, while the range up to 6 GHz is required for more stable cellular communications and wide coverage. In its 5G millimeter-wave modem, Apple will use both the standard Sub-6 GHz and Sub-6 GHz + bands. Smartphones with 5G support will be released at the end of III or the beginning of IV quarters of 2020.

With the addition of support for communication technologies Sub-6 GHz and mmWave, Guo Minghao expects iPhone 2020 to reach 80-85 million devices this year. This is more than 75 million devices for the iPhone 11 series in 2019. It is expected that the cost of 5G-enabled models will increase by $ 140 due to the new modem and housing.
