Number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Germany rose to 847

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infection in Germany has risen to 847, according to the Robert Koch Institute, which maintains country -specific morbidity statistics, on Sunday.

The day before, the institute reported 795 confirmed cases.

Almost half of those affected live in the largest land in North Rhine-Westphalia (392). More than 100 cases have been reported in Baden-W├╝rttemberg (182) and Bavaria (48), more than a dozen have been reported in Berlin (28), Lower Saxony (21), Hesse (15) and Hamburg (13).

In other regions, the number of confirmed cases does not exceed a dozen.

On December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization ( WHO ) about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan in the central part of the country ( Hubei Province ).

Experts have identified the causative agent of the disease – this is a new coronavirus. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name – COVID-19.
