Number of victims of Afghanistan mosque explosion increased to 17

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – At least 17 people were killed and 34 were injured in an explosion in a mosque in Khost province in eastern Afghanistan, Tolo News reported quoting the head of the provincial police Abdul Mannan.

Earlier it was reported about ten dead.

The explosion occurred on Sunday. The provincial police confirmed the explosion. According to her reports, this mosque is also used as a center for registration of voters.

At the moment, the police are investigating the circumstances of the explosion.

Combined elections to parliament and district councils of Afghanistan are planned for October 2018, voter registration in the country started on April 14. After the opening of the voter registration, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani invited the radical Taliban * to return to the peace process as a political movement and take part in the elections. The Taliban responded to the proposal with a refusal.
