Officials: Thousands of additional US soldiers on their way to the Middle East

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The United States is sending nearly 3,000 additional troops to the Middle East from the 82nd Airborne Division as a precaution, amid escalating threats to US forces in the region, US officials said on Friday.

The officials, who asked not to be named, added that the forces will join about 750 soldiers sent to Kuwait this week.

US officials have told Reuters this week that thousands of additional soldiers may be sent to the area and that forces have been told to prepare to deploy.
