UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Saudi Arabia has achieved a complete recovery in oil production after the incident with an attack on the country’s fuel and energy facilities, OPEC Secretary General Mohammed Barkindo said at a press conference following a meeting of the Valdai Club.
Earlier in September, Barkindo said that Saudi Arabia had almost completely restored oil production.
Saudi Arabia is the largest member of OPEC.
On the night of September 14th, Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia, was attacked by drones.
In particular, the country’s largest oil treatment complex, located in the east of Saudi Arabia, was attacked. This led to a reduction in oil production in the country by half – by 5.7 million barrels per day.
A few days later, the country’s Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, said that oil supplies to consumers were returned in full, while the country partially supplied oil from existing reserves, since production was only half restored. By the end of September, Saudi Arabia planned to completely restore production.
As part of the OPEC + Saudi Arabia deal, it should produce no more than 10.3 million bpd, but voluntarily committed to produce 9.89 million barrels of oil per day by the end of the year.
