Palestine declares cutting all ties, including “security”, with Israel and US

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced Saturday at an emergency meeting of the Arab League in Cairo that he officially informed Israel and the United States of severing “any relationship” with them, including “security relations.”

Abbas asked Israel to “assume its responsibilities as an occupying power” for the Palestinian territories.

Abbas said that two letters had been delivered to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the US administration, stating that they were almost identical.

He read the text of the message sent to Israel: “We inform you here that there will be no relationship with you and the United States of America, including security relations, in light of your disavowal of signed agreements and international legitimacy.”

He continued reading the text, “And you, Israelis, have to assume this responsibility as an occupying power.”

Abbas said he told Netanyahu that the US peace plan represented a “reversal of the Oslo agreements” signed between the Palestinians and Israel in 1993.

He added, ironically, that he had accordingly decided to return to Israel “the gift that we delivered to us in Oslo … the responsibility of eating and drinking … and security … I have no relationship” from now on.

Abbas indicated that he had cut off contacts with the Donald Trump administration after the US President recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in late 2017, but at that time he maintained “relations with the CIA” as it related to cooperation in “combating terrorism”.
