Pentagon chief says US doesn’t seek nuclear arms race with Russia

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) —The United States does not seek a nuclear arms race with Russia.

This assurance was made on Wednesday by US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.

“We are not trying to get involved in an arms race with Russia, we are not trying to achieve parity with them on a system-by-system basis,” said the Pentagon chief, commenting on the problems of modernizing the US nuclear arsenal at a hearing in the Committee on Armed Forces Affairs of the US House of Representatives.
