Pentagon: US fears clashes with Russia and Assad forces in Syria

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – US Defense Secretary James Mattis said that Washington seeks to interact with the Russian command in Syria to avoid incidents.

According to reports, the Pentagon is trying to avoid possible clashes with Russian units or the forces of the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar Assad. He noted that the US is worried about the risk of clashes with Syrian government troops as they move east.

” It worries us every day, we always follow them closely ,” said Mattis.

The head of the Pentagon earlier stressed that the conflict in the territory of the Middle East state will not be solved by military means.

Mattis believes that the US military should fight with the Islamic State group, and not resist the troops of Syria.

According to James Mattis, Washington is closely following the progress of the Syrian government troops.
