UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Edition of Consumer Reports announced the results of its traditional big test cars and publish your own rating of “reliability and satisfaction” – it includes 33 global car brands.
The conclusions of the authoritative publication are based both on their own tests of cars on five dozen parameters, and on surveys of their owners – the “satisfaction index” was taken into account when setting the final grade.
In addition, the overall score is affected by the level of security that this or that model provides: it is determined by the results of crash tests and the number of systems included in the basic package.
As a result, the current rating was headed by the Porsche brand with a score of 86 points. The second and third positions were taken by Genesis (84 points) and Subaru (81 points). Porsche climbed to first place from third, which remained for Subaru, which remained unchanged, while Genesis was second only last year.
The top five also included the Mazda and Lexus brands. It is curious that Porsche and Genesis recommends buying 3 out of 3 tested models, Subaru – 8 out of 7 (experts did not like the reliability of WRX), Mazda – 6 out of 6, but Lexus – only 7 out of 9 tested.
The brand that showed the sharpest take-off was Tesla: the brand rose immediately to 8 positions to 11th place thanks to the modifications of Model 3 and Model S. And the list of outsiders is almost unchanged: it is composed of Fiat, Mitsubishi, Jeep, Land Rover, Cadillac, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo and GMC. It is curious that the publication’s experts tested a total of 36 models of these brands, but only one is ready to recommend buying – the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Consumer Reports distributed their recommendations by price level, but they directly concern, perhaps, only the US market.
Nevertheless, it is worth noting that among the most affordable cars, the publication called the most attractive purchase of Toyota Corolla, in the segment from 25 to 35 thousand dollars were noted Subaru Forester and Legacy, as well as Toyota Prius, in the category “up to 45 thousand” Kia Telluride excelled. Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Avalon, and from 45 to 55 thousand worth paying for the Lexus RX, Tesla Model 3 and Toyota Supra.
