Qatar: number of people infected with coronavirus exceeded 400

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — More than 400 cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded to date in Qatar. This was announced on Sunday by Al Jazeera channel with reference to the Ministry of Health of the Emirate.

“In Qatar, 64 new cases of infection with coronavirus were noted,” the department said. “The total number of infected has reached 40.”

The first case of the disease was confirmed in Qatar on February 29 from a national of the country, who returned in the number of evacuated from Iran.

In connection with the spread of the virus, the government announced on March 3 the cancellation of the International Naval Exhibition and Conference DIMDEX 2020 (Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference).

For the same reason, the next Pugwash Conference on regional conflicts and nuclear risks, scheduled for early March in Doha, was postponed.

Later, the emirate authorities decided to temporarily close museums, cultural heritage sites, theaters, cinemas, gyms and playgrounds throughout the country for visiting. The World Cup stage in gymnastics in Doha will be held March 18-21 without spectators.

At the same time, the organizers of the World Cup, scheduled for November 21 – December 18, 2022, said that the situation with the outbreak of a new coronavirus will not affect their plans.
