Revolutionary Guards commander: We are not leading Iran to war, but we are not afraid of conflict

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Iran’s Revolutionary Guards commander General Hussein Salami said on Thursday that Iran was not heading for war but was not afraid of any conflict, after US President Donald Trump said Tehran was behind anti-US protests in Iraq.

Trump accused Iran of organizing demonstrations at the US embassy in Iraq on Tuesday and said Tehran would bear responsibility. Iran has rejected the accusations.

Tasnim quoted Salami as saying, “We do not lead the country to war, but we do not fear any war and we say to America that the speech improves when addressing the Iranian nation.” We have the power to destroy them many times and we are not worried.”

Trump said in a tweet on Tuesday that Iran “will bear full responsibility for the loss of life or damage to any of our facilities.” They will pay a very high price! This is not a warning, it is a threat. ” He later said he did not want or expect a war with Iran.

Major General Abdul Rahim Mousavi, commander of the Iranian army, said on Thursday that his forces were ready to confront the “enemy”.

“Our armed forces … monitor all movements, and if anyone makes the slightest mistake, the reaction will be decisive, and if the situation escalates, we will show the enemy our capabilities,” Iranian radio and television quoted Mousavi as saying.

On Wednesday, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, denounced the US attacks on Iraqi armed factions allied with Iran and blamed Washington for the violence in Iraq.
