SAUDI ARABIA (OBSERVATORY) – Saudi Arabia is the key partner of the United Nations in the fight against terrorism, Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said on Tuesday during the opening of the 16th meeting of the UN Center for Combating Terrorism in Riyadh.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a key partner of the UN and the international community in the fight against terrorism at all levels,” Al-Jubeir said. The opening of the meeting, in which UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres participated, was conducted by the Saudi TV channel Al-Ihbaria. Prior to the meeting, Guterres held a meeting with the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in his palace in Riyadh.
According to the minister, Riyadh adheres to its commitments to support the UN center, in particular, paid 100 million euros to fight terrorism in the “big five” countries, and also finances initiatives to combat terrorism around the world and helps states to implement life UN strategy on countering terrorism.
In addition, as Al-Jubeir noted, Saudi Arabia “continues to play an active role in the international coalition against the IS.
During the meeting, a memorandum was signed between the center and the Council of Arab Ministers of the Interior.
