Rouhani unveils preparation of “regional peace plan”

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said his country was extending a hand of friendship to all neighboring countries and was ready to overcome its “past mistakes”.

He said that the United States and Israel are seeking to exploit differences in the region, and revealed his country’s numbers of what he called a “regional peace plan.”

This came in a speech during a military parade at the Khomeini shrine in the capital Tehran, Sunday, coinciding with the 39th anniversary of the Iran-Iraq war.

Rouhani added: “At this important and sensitive historical stage, we declare that we are extending a hand of friendship and brotherhood to all the neighboring countries.

He pointed out that he will participate in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly with the slogan “Alliance of hope, peace for the whole region, and the peace initiative in the Strait of Hormuz.”

He said he will present in the coming days at the United Nations his country’s plan, to cooperate to ensure the security of the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman between the countries of the region.

Referring to the recent attacks on the Saudi Aramco oil facilities, Rowhani said: “Our approach and our path is to achieve unity and coordination among the countries of the region. They should not send the region into an arms race and stay away from the region if they are really serious about achieving its security. ”
