Russia accuses London of destroying evidence on the Skripal case

UNITED NATIONS (OBSERVATORY) –┬áBritain is systematically destroying evidence on the case of poisoning Sergei and Yulia Skripal, said Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia.

“The animals from the Skrypal house were destroyed, they obviously did not take samples, the places visited by Skripali, the bar, the restaurant, the bench, the soil in the park, etc., are cleaned up, while ordinary citizens continue to live in Salisbury as if nothing had happened happened, “he said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

The Permanent Representative also recalled that no one had been seen since March 4, their whereabouts are unknown.

Nebenzia again pointed out that Britain refuses to cooperate with Russia in the investigation of the case. So, from the 47 questions sent to London on the incident in Salisbury, 45 remained unanswered.

“There are no answers to the questions that we raised at the previous meeting of the UN Security Council on April 5. We will have more questions, we promised that we will not get off of you,” the Permanent Representative said.

The diplomat also pointed out that the previously published report of the OPCW does not confirm the UK’s conclusions about what happened. “The main thing that there is not and what the British side wanted so much to see is the conclusion that the substance used in Salisbury was produced in Russia,” he stressed.

Incident in Salisbury

In early March, former Colonel GRU Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia found unconscious in the city of Salisbury.

In Britain they claim that they were poisoned with a substance developed within the framework of the Soviet program “Novice”, and Moscow was involved in the incident.

Russia categorically denies this and calls the charges “an unsubstantiated provocation.” The Foreign Ministry has repeatedly called for a joint investigation of the incident, but the authorities of the United Kingdom responded with a refusal.

Experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) conducted an examination of the substance that the Fiddles had poisoned. Russia got acquainted with the report. According to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in it the OPCW resulted in the composition of a chemical substance, there is no specific name for the poison agent.
