RUSSIA (OBSERVATORY) – The Russian Federation continued to reduce the volume of assets denominated in US government bonds in February 2018, their size fell by $ 3.1 billion to $ 93.8 billion, according to updated data from the US Treasury.
The Russian Federation still ranks 16th among holders of US government bonds, behind South Korea, which has $ 101.3 billion of these securities.
The largest holder of this asset is still China. He now has these papers at 1.176 trillion dollars. In comparison with January, China increased the amount of these securities on its balance sheet by 6.5 billion dollars. And as a result, its break with Japan, which is now on the second line of this list, has increased.
Japan, on the contrary, got rid of the Treasury securities of the US Treasury by $ 6 billion and is the holder of bonds for 1.059 trillion dollars.
In total, governments around the world have accumulated US Treasury securities at $ 6.91 trillion. This is 31 billion more than in January 2018.
