UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Russia buys Su-57 fighters, preparing for a large-scale armed conflict – such an opinion was voiced by an expert from The National Interest. In July, the Russian armed forces signed a contract for the supply of 76 such aircraft until 2028.
This, as the publication notes, may be only the first step, and in the future the pace of production may increase.
According to the publication, the Su-57 “to the eyeballs is filled with the latest technology”, the development of which is expensive. And although the Russian defense budget is large enough, it cannot be compared with the Soviet one: the USSR could afford to purchase hundreds of Su-57 fighter predecessors, the Su-27.
When the process of developing and finalizing the latter was completed, they began to produce them at a rate of 60 units per year.
The author of the material noted that one should not neglect the contract for the purchase of 76 fighters. After the armed forces receive and test the first of these machines, the contract may be amended. In addition, it is possible that the cost of this fighter will decrease after Russia finds a foreign buyer.
On September 1, the head of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, said that during the MAKS-2019 air show, foreign visitors showed great interest in the Su-57E.
The fifth generation fighter was examined by the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
