RUSSIA (OBSERVATORY) – Russia will respond to Western sanctions imposed by point and painful measures, Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matviyenko said.
“I want no one to have illusions: Russia’s response to sanctions, the so-called counter-sentences, will be point, painful and sensitive for those countries that have brought them in against Russia.” Sanctions are a double-edged weapon, and those who introduce them , should understand that sanctions against countries, especially such as Russia, will be fraught with serious consequences for those who introduce them,” Matvienko said.
The law on counter-sentences can be adopted in the spring session. “The fact that we must take this in the spring session is for sure.
But the main quality now is no hurry. The most important is the content of the law, to which a very careful approach should be taken, “Matvienko stressed that the draft law” On measures of influence (counteraction) to unfriendly actions by the US and (or) other foreign states “was made on April 13 by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, leaders of all four parliamentary fractions, as well as the first vice-speaker from the Communist Party Ivan Melnikov.
