UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that US confidence in its superiority by force and the possibility of taking unreasonable steps is a major threat to Russia and other countries.
“When you realize your weakness and care to maintain equilibrium and equal overall security, you have to think about it,” Shoigu told the Moscow Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper. Including the unreasonable.”
He noted that the probability of an error in the weapons management system under the current level of informatics and automation was considerable. Therefore, he said, it is now increasingly important to solve the problem of information security.
Speaking about the situation in the world, the Russian minister expressed the hope that the issue of Russia’s participation in a real war does not exist at present.
“All the dangers and consequences of this war are clear to everyone.”
He stressed that the development of Russian science and industry allows Russia to confront the United States successfully, pointing out that Moscow is not trying to compete with Washington “on all fronts.”
“If you analyze the US military budget, you will understand that the United States is spending enormous money on its military bases around the world. There are currently 170 bases.”
He also said that US expenditure on the military operation in Afghanistan alone is roughly equal to the size of Russia’s annual military budget.
