SYRIA (OBSERVATORY) – A Russian parliamentary delegation arrived this Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Damascus, capital of Syria.
Dmitri Sablin, Member of the Duma (lower chamber of the Russian Parliament) and coordinator of interparliamentary relations with Syria, chairs this delegation.
Upon his arrival in Damascus, he denied false information spread by some media that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family had left the country.
The Russian parliamentary delegation arrived Wednesday in Syria and plans to hold meetings with the country’s leaders, businessmen and to carry out a number of humanitarian efforts.
“Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is in Damascus and we intend to meet him to talk with him,” said Sablin, who is visiting Syria.
The Russian parliamentarian recalled that he had met Assad several times, including in 2014, “when the situation in Syria was much worse”.
“The Syrian president said he would never leave Syria and share the fate of his people; his family is now in Damascus with his people,” said Dmitry Sablin.
